NICG is engaged in a project directed by the State Council in China that will make the name of Yujiapu as famous around the world as Pudong and Shenzen. Yujiapu is being developed over the next decade as a new international financial centre. It is positioned in a loop of the Haihe, the major river of northern China, just to the east of Tianjin. Yujiapu is one of nine new functional zones being developed within the Tianjin Binhai New Area. These zones cover a wide range of economic activities ranging from high technology manufacturing, China’s largest port facilities in North China, petro-chemical complexes, an aviation sector and the central business district of Yujiapu. Yujiapu will thrive driven by long term stable government planning and being positioned at the heart of the Bohai Circle. This circle is the massive economic engine that is evolving in the north of China along the axis of Beijing and Tianjin: the Bohai Circle represents in China a third of the population and its GDP. The role of NICG, and its strategic partner Bell Pottinger, is to provide consultancy and communications services that will make Yujiapu a compelling choice of location for both Chinese and international businesses. This will require a decade long period of support to let the world know about the immense potential of the Bohai Circle, Tianjin Binhai New Area and at is core, Yujiapu – an emerging international financial services centre.
